FORTH COMING EVENT

December 24, 2011

The Jadavpur Association of International Relations (JAIR) is a unique platform which has been incessantly working towards knowledge dissemination in the field of International Relations and allied social sciences by encouraging the culture of active debate and discussion on relevant issues since 2007. The JAIR has till date organized one national seminar on Challenges of Terrorism (2008), one international conference on BIMSTEC: From Land Locked to Land Linked (2010), a national convention on International Relations titled India’s Constructive Engagement with Asia and Africa in the 21st Century (2011) and a score of students’ seminars, workshops and likewise. Details of the activities of the association have been reasonable documented in its website www.jair.org.in. We have been actively encouraged and supported by the Public Diplomacy Division (Ministry of External Affairs), the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and think tanks like the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (Kolkata), the African Studies Association (New Delhi) etc. JAIR has been actively trying to sensitize the society around with issues which are actively shaping our lives. The association in its short yet eventful history has been relentlessly trying to provide the young minds with a meaningful platform so that they can successfully articulate their views.

The upcoming event tries to uphold the same spirit. We have decided to organize a one day round table on the theme Internet, State & Democracy: Wikileaks & Beyond on January 11, 2012 (Wednesday) at 10.30 a.m. in collaboration with the The School of Media, Communication and Culture, Jadavpur University at the Anita Banerjee Memorial Hall, Jadavpur University. The program has been conceived to be an all students’ program keeping in mind the innumerable ways in which their lives and views are ensnared by the all pervasive phenomenon of social media. We hereby solicit active involvement of the students who are keen towards the subject to join the organization.
